Do you feel like you are surviving instead of thriving?

Life’s demands can be overwhelming, and sometimes we all need extra support.

What is Resilience Connection?

Resilience Connection is an online platform designed to help you thrive in response to life’s challenges. We offer step-by-step courses for individuals and parents as well as downloadable workbooks and resources. We also offer a community component so you can connect with other people that are working to increase their resilience.

Our Philosophy

  • Pillar 1 Validate:

When you name a feeling, you take the first step out of it. When we acknowledge the difficulty of the challenge before us, we are able to gather up the resilience that we need to face it. In our first step, Validate, we learn how to validate our feelings and the challenges that lie before us.

  • Pillar 2 Assess:

We can intentionally increase and conserve our resilience. We have the capacity to decide when and how to use our energy and access our power. In our second step, Assess, we learn how to assess thoughts, behaviors, and circumstances so we can deliberately and purposefully use our resources to face difficult situations.

  • Pillar 3 Support:

Asking for help is not a sign of weakness. In fact, accessing support gives us the strength we need to live with resilience. In this step, Support, we learn strategies to better support ourselves and access support from others.

“There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they’re falling in.”― Desmond Tutu

My name is Avery Hoenig and I am a licensed psychologist. I have been working in the field of mental health for over twenty years. Throughout my career, it has been my honor and privilege to help people pull themselves out of the river of mental illness. Mental wellness is my passion, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to do the work that I love and witness people working hard to improve their symptoms and their lives. Over the past few years, I have felt called to do more. This desire to go outside of my comfort zone and serve in different ways has become stronger, especially over the tumultuous last few years. I can no longer ignore this need to “go upstream”: to support people as they pull themselves out of the river and provide people with strategies they can use on a daily basis to stay out of the river in the first place.

What People Are Saying

“I am loving this. I think many people can connect with their past, positive experiences and transfer them to the present. I think it is going to make a difference in so many people’s lives.”

— Caroline, Psychologist

“This is wonderful…going to apply this today!”

— Claudia, Texas

“This is fantastic! I absolutely love that throughout the course you are reflective of your own, personal journey to be more resilient. As you shared your experiences, I (and more than once) related to you. I know, moving forward, that I’ll definitely be utilizing the suggested techniques.”

— Ashley, Virginia

“This is so great! So many of us are struggling to keep it together. Thank you Avery.”

— Jenell, Texas

"Amazing work! You have done a wonderful job with this workshop for self-care. Your modules would have been a great resource for me as a younger person and will continue to be in later life. Your work is really impressive!"

— Bobbie, retired

“This is so helpful, great practical techniques!”

— Ruthie, Washington DC

“I like that you explain how this training is not a replacement for counseling but can help you help yourself. Knowing there are so many people out there struggling with limited funds for mental health and little access to support/counseling, I can see your work being a lifesaver.”

— Catherine, Consultant

“I’m loving the videos. The part about expectations really resonated with me. I just finished the Support modules of your course. They spoke to me so much. Thank you for the words of encouragement.”
